Body's own energies are reflecting. It's like a reflective shield, reflecting back to itself. And so, the more they studied, they they realized as it's doing that, the pH is balancing. And so, of course, when your pH is balanced and you're not acidic, then the body is starting to heal itself. So that's kind of the premise. And then in the 1990s, they took that technology from the space food and put it into the blanket, so that the general public could also benefit from it.

If you're a parent of a child with autism, you are being called to rise with love, courage, and clarity. This journey isn't easy, and most parents aren't equipped, but you can be. This podcast is your invitation to rise higher, because how you navigate matters. I'm Len, and this is Autism Parenting Secrets, where you become the parent your child needs now. Hello and welcome. This week, we're exploring how the environment around your child may impact how their body settles and regulates, especially during sleep. Many children on the spectrum live in a chronic state of stress and dysregulation, and their nervous systems are often overstimulated, sensitive, and constantly responding to the world around them. So, and while parents are often searching for maybe more complex interventions, sometimes simple environmental inputs can make a very very meaningful difference. So joining me today is Tammy Arthur, founder of the Wellness Blanket, and a certified natural health professional with a background in education and holistic wellness. Tammy is passionate about helping people create calmer, more supportive environments for rest, sleep, and nervous system regulation. And in this conversation, we're going to explore what Tammy has observed in sensitive children and families, and why sleep and regulation are so deeply connected, and how parents can become better observers of the environmental factors that may help their child feel calmer and more settled. The secret this week is enhance regulation while your child sleeps. Welcome, Tammy.

Tammy Arthur 2:11

Thank you. I'm so glad to be here today.

Len Arcuri 2:13

Well, I'm excited to have you here, and I know we met at the Autism Health Summit. I think a couple months ago, and before we even talk about the blanket and kind of what you're bringing as an option for parents, you know, what first made you realize that dysregulation and overwhelm, like that, that it really is about the nervous system, and that you know ultimately that that's the core focus for so many people, whatever they're experiencing, it really does always come down to nervous system regulation, does it not?

Tammy Arthur 2:46

It does. Yes. My background: I taught school, elementary school, for 20 some years, and I did work some with some of the special needs children, and so I have you know some background, just even from years ago, with noticing about you know the nervous system, and then I think I would say probably five or six years ago, I kind of tuned into it a little bit more, and I think it was it was about the time that 5g came out, and that's when I started noticing so many people, you know, could not sleep anymore, and so and and I think that has so much to do with the nervous system. But that that's kind of that was probably when it really, you know, clicked that there's something really going on here in the environment, and it's something that we need to to take a you know a good look at and see how we can help, and especially children. I know I have little grandchildren, and you know, you know, you can turn off your phone and your Wi-Fi and that kind of thing, but the EMFs are still coming in through the windows and everything else, and it goes right through that blood-brain barrier and it destroys their cells. So you know, it's it's just all connected.

Len Arcuri 4:00

No, I appreciate that, and yeah, we've done so many episodes about EMFs, how parents can play better defense. So EMFs are one of many stressors, and I guess what you're suggesting, though, is particularly from a sleep standpoint. Yeah, that's that's a a not a not an insignificant source of stress. There are others, but you you're saying you noticed, in terms of what you're observing, that particularly with the rollout of 5G, especially that you noticed some changes, which would make sense in the in the sense that 5G was wildly different than 4G and 3G in terms of exactly what it is, how it works, and the the the levels that the electromagnetic fields or those wireless signals are coming through, they're much more likely to be incompatible with the body.

Tammy Arthur 4:49

Yes, exactly.

Len Arcuri 4:50

Got it. So from a from a regulation standpoint, you see that as being a stress a stressor with respect to sleep. Especially right because we're exposed to toxins all the time as we're walking along. Not just EMFs, you know, whether it's mold, toxins, chemicals, pesticides, but clearly the sleep environment is super important because that's where we recharge and rejuvenate. And so, so playing better defense there always is is the first place to start,

Tammy Arthur 5:21

right? Right, and and I know you and I have talked, parents and the children, but the parents need good sleep in order to make it through the day each day, and you know just being at the Autism Health Summit and getting to meet so many of these parents, you know several of them have two and three and four children that have autism or other special needs, and I just I couldn't imagine their everyday events, you know, without getting really good sleep.

Len Arcuri 5:52

Right, and every parent knows sleep is important on some level, but it's very easy to discount, and because it may seem I know I didn't feel like getting quality sleep was realistic in certain times in my life, depending particularly if my my my with the challenges my son had. So the idea of prioritizing sleep, you know, it's one thing to know; it's another thing to actually raise your hand, saying, "Okay, I'm going to do what I can, and that's where I feel like easy things you can do to stack the deck for better quality sleep are the first step, right? Which is, I think, which is there. Okay, avoiding blue light, you know, having a set bedtime and wake time. There's some super easy things you could do to improve sleep for the parent and the child. But where your where your focus is and what you're offering to parents is this concept of actually having something in the sleep environment that, in and of itself, is a very unique way of promoting more calm and regulation. So, talk a little bit about what in what went into you discerning that, particularly a blanket, which sounds like a very simple thing. The how that, if constructed in in the right way, could really be a catalyst for deeper regulation and calm.

Tammy Arthur 7:09

And if it's okay, I'd like to give you a little bit of background on the blanket, how it kind of came to be.

Len Arcuri 7:14

Yeah, go for it.

Tammy Arthur 7:15

For me, it kind of you know it makes sense if I can you know kind of look back a little bit. But so this is this is a Russian invention back from the 1960s. It started out with the cosmonauts have their spacesuits on, and the doctors are checking their vitals and organs, and they realize the longer they're in their spacesuits, the healthier they are, and they couldn't figure out why. So they asked the scientists, please take apart this spacesuit, so we can figure out why they're so healthy the longer they're in it. Well, when they did that, they saw that the whole spacesuit was lined with the precious metal, the element palladium. So the more they studied this, what was happening because they're they're completely you know engulfed in the spacesuit, just like when you're wrapped in the blanket, totally wrapped in the blanket. So what's happening is the body's own energies are reflecting. It's like a reflective shield, reflecting back to itself. And so the more they studied, they they realized as it's doing that, the pH is balancing. And so of course, when your pH is balanced and you're not acidic, then the body is starting to heal itself. So that's kind of the the premise. And then in the 1990s, they took that technology from the space food and put it into the blanket so that the general public could also benefit from it. Well, then I think it. You know, we've talked about the EMFs, but I realized five or six years ago, that I was meeting so many people that just weren't able to sleep anymore. I met a another naturopath doctor, and she had told me that she literally hadn't slept after they put a 5g tower in her neighborhood. And so she took a blanket home with her that night, and calls me the next morning, and she said it's the first time I've slept in eight months, and what it was doing, her body vibrated so hard she couldn't rest. And when she's totally wrapped in the blanket, it you know it brought down the vibrations to where she could hardly feel them. So it's like when you're when you're wrapped in the blanket, it's kind of like a cocoon, and it causes the body to be immune to the EMFs, the 5g you know, 6g whatever it is that you know they're bringing out upon us next. So that's kind of how it started, and then you know, just joining all of you at the Autism Health Summit a few months ago. That was so amazing to me because I have worked with some children that have autism, and I've seen some amazing things. I remember one one woman in her later 20s; her mother had brought her to an event that we were doing and had her, you know, wrapped in the blanket. And the mother was just; she was so ecstatic. She couldn't believe it. She said, "This is the first time I." Daughter has been calm her whole life, so I had seen a few things. But then, when I came to the Autism Health Summit and I met Jess there, and she got a-it's a three-day event. So she had taken the blanket home with her that night. When she came back the next morning, she was all smiles. Came right to the booth. She said she was she and her husband co-sleep with their two four-year-old twins. Well, this particular night, it was just the one. The little boy, typically, he doesn't sleep well, and he will even like claw her face at night. She said he slept through the whole night. She slept through the whole night. When she got up, she you know, to get ready for the event, he stays in bed for like 30-five more minutes. She took a picture of him. He is all, you know, curled up in the blanket, smiles on his face. She said he never does. He's up the minute she's up, you know. So that that was amazing. And then she has a way to track her sleep with the the ring that she wears. She said it's never above a 70 ever, and it was 92 that morning, so that was huge. And then since then, we have chatted a few times.

Tammy Arthur 11:08

She has four children that have autism; they are all sleeping underneath the wellness blanket, and they're all sleeping now. And and to her, that's you know, it's night and day, you know, difference and life for them. So she's just you know so thrilled. And there have been other people that I've chatted with. Another friend that I met there, she took the took the blanket home to her son. They took it with them to the therapist, and the therapist had never seen it before. Had him laying on top of the blanket, and sent me several pictures. And she said it usually takes me eight hours to where I got today with him in 30 minutes. She said his hands are always clenched, and his hands were open, and his pain reflexes were were gone. She actually took a blanket home with her that night, and she has the the therapist has restless legs and doesn't sleep well. She said I didn't have any pain all night long, so you know it's it's just it's been fun to you know my my whole goal is just to reach as many people as I can you know with the wellness blanket for healing, for deeper sleep, and like you said, when you're wrapped in the blanket, your your cells are rejuvenating, restoring. I know for me, I go to sleep in about a minute, and I sleep all night long. Wake up always before the alarm because when you have really good sleep, you don't need to sleep, you know, as long.

Len Arcuri 12:42

Right. Yeah. No. And and and I know the testimonials you're giving, you know, with with Jess from the Autism Health Summit, but you you don't have a lack of testimonials from people who have really experienced profound shifts just from again using something as simple as a blanket, and it all sounds quite implausible, which is why you know you have to kind of experience it for yourself, and some people are much more responsive, and it really comes down to what a person you know uniquely needs. And it seems like for no question with with the blanket, and I I've purchased one as as well, and with and one for my son. We love it. It's it's it's it's something that we do feel is beneficial. My son wants to sleep with it. He's 19 now. He's in a different place than he was. Like I wonder what the blanket would have been like for him earlier on. But you know, again, I think no matter where somebody is, a child or an adult, it's a super simple way of perhaps again doing a lot of things at once, not only giving you something that might help with sleep, but to the extent that it is creating a more healthful environment where EMF stressors are minimized or reduced. I want to talk about how it might be doing that. By the way, you know, it's a it's a great example of something that's simple that could have a lot of potential benefits, and again, the only way you might really understand this is to experience it for yourself.

Tammy Arthur 14:08

I was just going to say, I was thinking about the children with autism; they have so much inflammation, you know, in the brain, in the gut, and that's one of the things with the blanket. When you're wrapped in the blanket, it is pulling the inflammation out of the body, and I've even seen that for myself. I can be, you know, as simple as working out in the garden, have a little water on the knee because I've been out there for hours and not thinking about it. And I wrap in the blanket in the morning; it's gone because when your pH balances, you know, it can be anything from a cold. I we wrapped a woman, naturopath doctor friend of mine, she has MS, and in five minutes she couldn't feel her pain, and you know calls me, where can I get this blanket? It's just amazing for pain, anxiety, but yeah, just thinking of the inflammation. That's that's a big

Len Arcuri 14:56

one, right? And what you're describing in terms of the mechanism, that's not something that. I've heard this before, particularly with another prior guest on the podcast, where it is about whatever's happening in your body. The pH level is a very important thing to look at. So anything that can help the body to restore itself and to get in a more what's a targeted range and not to be excessively alkaline or esthetic, right? But it's about kind of being in that certain range. There's a lot of different ways you can maybe help the body do that, and that's basically where, with the blanket, it's about redirecting, right? Using the body's natural energy, but redirecting it in a way. For and it really comes down to the the huge premise that I always love talking about, which is that your body has an innate ability to to repair and heal itself if it's given the right tools to do that, and that's where the blanket's not in and of itself doing anything to the body; it's just supporting the body to do what it does naturally well.

Tammy Arthur 15:59

That's right, and when you think about it too, you know when your body is put back into parasympathetic, which is what this blanket is doing, then the body can start to heal.

Len Arcuri 16:09

Right, and then in terms of the EMF, just to close the loop on that, you know, there's lots of products out there in terms of if if you think EMFs are a problem, which we live in a much more toxic world when it comes to that. You know, there's different strategies for how you might prevent harm. You might shield, um, you know, yourself from it. You might help it, you know, not necessarily shield, but make it more less toxic to the body. Harmonizing. There's a lot of different approaches when people talk about EMFs with with the wellness blanket, in what way is it helping to ward off whatever you know that that bed that that child sleeping in the bed? If there's let's say a wireless router and radio frequencies kind of coursing into that room, in what way does the wellness blanket help to ward that off?

Speaker 1 17:00

Right.

Tammy Arthur 17:00

So when you're fully wrapped, your your magnetic your own body's magnetic field is reflected back on itself, and that's kind of the what I was saying before, kind of like the cocoon. And so it what it does is it it makes the body well basically immune to the EMFs, and I guess, like you said, there are other things that you can use, you know, to help with that. But what I love about the blanket, it's not just doing that. It's when it's balancing the pH, you know. So you've you've got two things really going on here. When your pH is balancing, the body is starting to heal itself, so it's not just you know blocking the EMFs. It's actually the body healing itself and working as the reflective shield to make the body immune to the EMFs. You know we have other things in our house, just whole house types of things. You know biogeometry and different things like that, but when you're sleeping in the blanket, you're you're getting you know really two different things happening there at the same time. So the body is healing itself and keeping the EMFs you know from hurting the the body further.

Len Arcuri 18:16

Got it. And in terms of what you've seen, and I'm sure you've had many people who have used this, you know, for a variety of conditions, but particularly if we're talking about children, right? And and particularly whatever the diagnosis might be, it's not just about autism, but but if if children are experiencing some some condition where they're let's just say, depleted and sleeps horrible, or whether it's problematic behaviors or whatever the case may be, what can what have you seen in terms of the age at which a child might benefit from this? Is there any kind of age that it's a better fit with, or like who may respond more than others, like what? Just anecdotally, what have you seen with particularly with kids with challenging conditions?

Tammy Arthur 19:05

Yes. So we have just started to make the it's a crib size blanket because you know even when you have the littlest baby, they need to be protected as well. So I mean I've seen it work from little ones all the way, you know, to older people. But I mean, for instance, I went to wrap a grandmother one time at a friend's home. She's laying on the couch. You know, I lay the blanket out. She lays down on the one side, and we pull it over her, kind of like a sleeping bag. Well, she has a little 12-month-old granddaughter there, and the little granddaughter is trying to get down in the blanket with her. They sense, you know, they sense what's going on there. The frequency they can feel it. They can feel the healing frequency. They want to be in it. So I mean, I've seen it from little ones, you know, all the way to older children. My own grandchildren, if they start to get a cold or what. Whatever we wrap them right up. One of the very first things that I had noticed with my first grandchild, she was she's nine now, but she was 12 months old, and I was using the just kind of starting to use them like it actually. And my daughter called and she said, Nora is her name. She said she has she'd never been sick, never been vaccinated or anything, but she had been in a situation where she had picked up hand, foot, mouth. So she was crying, you know, not you know, not feeling well. She says, "Mom, can you bring the blanket? And I said, "Sure. So I did, and I got there and literally wrapped her up. She's crying, and it wasn't 10 seconds. She stops crying. She couldn't feel her pain anymore, you know, because the pH is balancing. The body is starting to heal, the anxiety, the pain is going away. So she wrapped for a little bit. Well, then it was time for her nap, and so my daughter took her upstairs for her nap, and I just kind of sat and chatted with my daughter for a while. Well, when she woke up, she's crying, and so my daughter goes upstairs to get her. She has this like L-shaped couch, and the blanket was on the other end of where we were sitting. And so Nora comes down. She's crying, and so Faith, my daughter, sets her down by the couch beside us, and she she hasn't walked in yet. She pulls herself around to the other side of the couch where the blanket is pulls it down on top of herself and stops crying. I mean, you know, to me that was like that. That is like you know the best proof on a child, you know. And 12 months old, they just know they can feel it. The animals are the same way. If you leave a blanket out, my daughter has a golden doodle. That dog is on that blanket like right now because you know they're they're kind of a high anxiety dog anyways but you know it's just so calming and so healing and you know when your pH is balancing so many things are happening but you don't need as many supplements and you know things that you may have been taking regularly because your body is healing itself.

Len Arcuri 22:02

Yeah, no, I love what you're saying about the animals. It's funny because, like, humans, you know, can maybe you know not be you know truthful or may say what you want them to hear, but animals do know what is useful, what isn't. And I just remembered, especially something like whole tones, the music with the healing frequencies. I remember how my cat responded immediately to that, and even a sauna, the sauna-based sauna I have, which with with the red near infrared and the red light, immediately the cat just goes in there because it's such a calming, healing environment. So it sounds like it's the same with the blanket, where yes, you know the animals do know what what works and what doesn't, but but I I think with um with that concept though in terms of like who would be a fit who wouldn't be, you know especially in this space with like electromagnetic fields right there are people who are electro hypersensitive right who they can feel it they probably you know put your blanket on immediately. They feel the difference, but most of the population, probably 95% of people, aren't electro hypersensitive. And I guess the key thing I'd like to to the point I want to make is those people who are hypersensitive usually they have the gift of being able to sense, whereas most of us don't. And whether you can sense it or not doesn't mean that it's not beneficial. That inside your body, that it that it's helping in some way. Again, it's helping the body to kind of bring back to to equilibrium what's needed because we're all because we're being bombarded constantly with toxins of all kind and emotional stressors, were all out of whack to some degree.

Tammy Arthur 23:46

Yes, I have kind of a story that kind of goes along with that. So I was telling you about the naturopath friend that didn't sleep for eight months. So she calls and tells this couple who actually are regenerative farmers in our area. We love to get you know our meats from them and everything. So the the husband calls and he says my wife doesn't sleep, you know hardly at all. She'll go to sleep sleep till about 1230 get up to go to the bathroom, and that's it. And he said, "Do you think the blankets would help her? And I I said, "Yeah, I I think that they would. I told him some of the experiences I had had, and so he decided, "Well, we're just going to start with two. We're gonna put one under the fitted sheet. She'll lay on that, and we'll put one over her, and that's that's what we're gonna do for her. I said, okay, that's great. So got the blankets to her. About four days later, he calls me, and he said the first two nights she slept till 1230 like normal. Went to the bathroom, went back to sleep, slept the rest of the night. Well, that that was huge, you know, for her. Then third and fourth night, she didn't wake up to go to the bathroom; just slept the whole night. So that that was just really great. So then he calls me again about six weeks later, and he says, "Remember when we talked, you know, six weeks ago about my wife? And I said, "Yes. And he said, "Remember me telling you that I had constant migraines? and. Said yes, I remember that, and he said, "Well, I don't have them anymore. He goes, "What do you think's happened? And I said, "Well, have you been sleeping in the blankets? "Oh yes, and I said, "Remember, we talked about how when the pH balances, you're not acidic, you're not alkaline, the body will start to heal itself. And I said, "It's brought the histamine levels. He had very high histamine levels. It's brought the histamine levels down to where it needs to be, and the headaches are gone. So you know it can be many many times we notice overnight types of things with sleeping. I know, and probably several of you know Dr. Sherry Tenpenny. She the very first night she slept, she said like I hadn't slept, you know, in like 40 years. She won't go anywhere without her two suitcases-one for her blanket and one for her clothing. But, but you know, so you you've got that. But then I also love the stories where you know some things take a little more time because your pH is not going to be balanced in one day. You know, so I love the story about the headaches because it just shows you that you know every day, you know it's getting better and better as your pH is balancing when you're sleeping every night in the blankets. Yeah,

Len Arcuri 26:10

yeah, no, it's it. I know you you have so many people who can attest to it, and again, that's where you know as parents, especially if we go back to something like autism, right? All parents are looking for what's what's that miracle product? What's going to solve this? And and again, it's unlikely there's anything like that. But the key is if you can figure out have a good strategy for your child, and find actions that you can take that again help with overall wellness and tapping into that body's innate ability, you know something like the wellness blanket. Yeah, you might notice something pretty quickly, as you've seen time and time again. But it's that consistency, day after day, of take doing something that helps with better quality sleep, overall detoxification, rejuvenation. You know, again, there's so many interventions out there for parents, and it's overwhelming. But where everything is going is really in terms of these more energetic ways of helping the body to become what it can be. It's not about healing or anything. It's not there. You you don't have to use those words. It's just about and giving the body what it needs to thrive in a very toxic world, which is why I love the simplicity of the wellness blanket.

Tammy Arthur 27:26

Yes, and I and I love that too because it doesn't plug in, and you know every eight weeks you put it out in the sun for about 15 minutes, the sun recharges the palladium. The palladium holds 900 times its volume in hydrogen, so the sun from the hydrogen from the sun, then we'll recharge the blanket. So it's very simple, and people will you know they look around on the floor when they're wrapped, like you know, is this plugged in? No, it's it's as your body, you know, reflecting back, and your body is what's doing the work.

Len Arcuri 27:56

Yeah, no, it's powerful, and and again, it's it's easily easy to dismiss it, but when we think about the sun and the power that comes from the sun, and how critical it is, it all starts to make more sense. But again, something that yeah, you kind of have to experience it. You know, I know I had the the luxury being at the the Autism Health Summit where I was able to try it firsthand, and and for parents who can do that, great. But otherwise, just this is definitely something to consider as you're thinking about what are all the pretty simple things I can do, you know, that have zero downside and and only upside. And again, it really depends on what what root cause you're addressing. I think a lot of times parents don't necessarily have a really good plan for what their child needs, and that's where if you can identify the the key root causes to focus on now for your child, that's much more likely to lead to actions you can take that can help, and that's why focusing on the dysregulation, the nervous system piece of it, you know, there's a lot of different avenues to go down to help with a dysregulated nervous system, and I couldn't think of anything simpler than just swapping out the blanket that your child sleeps on every evening.

Tammy Arthur 29:15

Right? Yeah. Great idea.

Len Arcuri 29:18

Awesome. Well, anything else just from from your vantage point, you know, in terms of the the people you've worked with, what you've learned along the way. If parents are, you know, if let's say they look at their child like, yes, I could see that my child is dysregulated. Anything else that you'd like to share that you haven't covered already that you think would be useful for a parent to understand?

Tammy Arthur 29:37

You know, when I was at the Autism Health Summit. I one of the young men that I got to wrap. I think he was 15 or 16 years old, and his mother. It was it was really great. His mother kept bringing him back, bringing him back. You know, she was also another vendor, kept bringing him back. But he was so calmed that when he would stand up out of the blanket, he would just hug her. And one time when we wrapped him, he went to sleep. But you know, she just she's like, I you know, this is amazing. I haven't seen him like this. So I just really appreciated, you know, getting to be a part of that. And then I know we've talked about Len. Just there are different sizes of blankets, so you know you can start with a travel blanket. It's more affordable. There are bigger sizes that you can fully wrap in standard queen and king. But like I was telling you about the the one friend that you know took her son to work with the therapist, they just had a travel blanket. He was just laying on top of it, and I mean she said, "I have never ever seen him like this before. So, it's a good place to start with, you know, with a travel size blanket.

Len Arcuri 30:49

Fantastic! Yeah, well, we're including the show notes where you can go and check it out. It and actually, why don't you tell people where they can go, Tammy?

Tammy Arthur 30:57

Yes, it's thewellnessblanket.com and then Len has a code that he'd like to share with you so that you can save 10%

Len Arcuri 31:07

Yeah, to make it easier, you can use code all in. And again, it's one of those things where to experience it, see for yourself, and and again, I think it's it just hits that sweet spot for me, right? Something that has a great potential for upside, and and 00 risk of downside. You know, because there's a lot of actions parents can take, and it's easy to be skeptical. Well, it's good to be skeptical, and it's it's important to be discerning on what to kind of devote your time to. And something like this, again, super simple. Only potential upside. So, if you'd like to experience it for yourself, yeah, you can use code all in. But otherwise, I encourage you go to Tammy's Tammy's website and check it out. There's a lot of information on there. I know we kind of covered the basics on how it works, but again, something you kind of have to experience firsthand.

And and I wanted to say too, Len, when you go to the website thewellnessblanket.com, there is a contact at the top that you can click on. And if you anyone has you know questions you would like to talk with me, and you leave a message there with your phone number, I'm happy to call you.

Len Arcuri 32:16

I can attest firsthand. Tammy is phenomenal, and and will definitely answer your questions. So, Tammy, I appreciate you taking the time to explain the wellness blanket. I know this is something you're extremely proud of and extremely excited to see the impact it's having. And I really appreciate you sharing this with our audience.

Tammy Arthur 32:34
